MISSION STATEMENT
Skagit Family Study Center (SFSC) is dedicated to understanding human development in the context of the family and the community. We help families pass along their most important cultural and spiritual values to their children without power struggles. We strive to share what we discover with everyone.

Skagit Family Study Center was founded to value, develop and share the principles learned by Chuck and Connie, their colleagues, and the families they have been privileged to work with over the years.

Connie Bonner-Britt is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Children’s Mental Health Specialist. She has a M.A. degree in Human Development with a Specialization in Early Childhood Education from Pacific Oaks College. She is a Reiki Practitioner. Connie provides individual, child and family counseling. Connie hosts the weekly Skagit Family Study Center Therapeutic Parenting Group with her husband, Chuck Britt. She hosts a Women’s Healing group which offers support for women seeking support for spiritual health and healing.

Connie teaches common sense self help principles which support your mental, emotional, and spiritual awareness and awakening; leading to the discovery your fullest human potential. Connie teaches step-by-step skills to understand and take responsibility for your personal process of development. She supports you in finding the developmental meaning of emotional or spiritual crisis and to learn to make choices safely in your behalf. Connie is a part time instructor in the Early Childhood Education at Skagit Valley College.

Chuck Britt holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage Family and Child Therapist. Whether working with children, young adults, adults or groups Chuck uses the principles of Cognitive-Behavioral work and Family Dynamics along with ideas from developmental psychology, and depth psychology to guide the work. Chuck usually sees children and young adults along with their parents. When parenting skills are the focus, he teaches non-manipulative, choice-based parenting skills that clarify roles in the family, increase parental authority while fully respecting the free will of the children and nurturing full development in both the children and their parents. Chuck supports those experiencing trauma or crisis in finding a new foundation for healing and meaning in their lives, within their own strengths and values.

MORE ABOUT US

Skagit Family Study Center has existed since Chuck moved into Frances' rental house across the streat from the Chuck Wagon hamburger place on Riverside in Mount Vernon in 1990. Chuck got his business license and started seeing clients soon after moving in. Other local therapists also used the space by the hour.

Chuck moved to an office space above Paciioni's Restaurant on First Street in Mount Vernon in 1993. In 1997 Chuck moved his offices into the house located on the property now occupied by the new train station in downtown Mount Vernon.

And in 1998 Chuck and Connie decided to marry. They married early in 1999 and moved their combined practices into the present location at 11th and Broad near the Hopital in Mount Vernon.

Connie and Chuck have been doing parenting groups since the early 90's and have maintained the Mount Vernon group since 1998.

Each of us is a river... each river flows into the Salish Sea. The great power of water flows through each of us equally. We find ourselves together here, for this working moment in time, in this wonderful valley... then our water flows on... supporting the remembered ancestors as they pole up and down the river or as they struggle to find home in a new land. Let's work together remembering everyone who has gone before, respecting every community serving the people, every person who is parenting, every elder among us and in the service of every child.

Our goal is to help the Families of Skagit County get the information and support they need to succeed.

Our MAIN PAGE presents INFORMATION, NEWS, and LINKS to services and information needed to succeed in our community.
